Sipriana G. "Piany" Mendiola, 53 of Lorain passed away Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at Mercy Saint Vincent Medical Center, Toledo following a sudden illness. Sipriana was born September 21, 1959 in Lorain. She attended Clearview High School. She received her G.E.D. and attended Lorain County Joint Vocational School where she earned her certificate in the food service program. Sipriana worked at Denny's in Amherst as a line cook, cooking at various restaurants for over 33 years. She enjoyed fishing, cooking, spending time with her family and grandchildren, the Pittsburgh Steelers, gambling, playing cards and bingo. Survivors include her partner of 27 years Carl Taylor; daughters Lucas Mauricio, Kathy Madera and Dolores Marrero all of Lorain and Aliesha Taylor of Elyria; sons Jose Marrero and Jordan Taylor both of Lorain, father Pedro Delgado of Cleveland; step-parents Robert W. and Gloria Burns both of Lorain; brothers Joseph Mauricio of Lorain, Fernando Mauricio of Texas, Manuel Mauricio of Wyoming, Jeffrey Burns and James Burns both of Vermilion; sisters Frances Mauricio and Deloris Mauricio both of Lorain and Kathy Burns of Vermilion; grandchildren Ashley, Angel, Nikolas, Adryana, Sophia, Sayah, Rosalind, Rolando, Alasia', Elonzo, Jeremiah, Shawn Jr., Destiny, Delmar Jr, and 14 additional grandchildren and great grandchildren Jordan, Ja'liyah, Jazmyn. Sipriana was preceded in death by her mother Lucas (née Mendiola) Burns; stepfather Jose I. Mauricio; uncle Senaido Mendiola; cousin Maria N. Aviles; and paternal and maternal grandparents.
Her family will receive friends Monday from 2 until time of her funeral service at 5 PM in Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 east 31stt Street, South Lorain.
