Richard H. Pasenow, 71, of Vermilion, passed away Sunday, April 15, 2012 in his home following a lengthy illness.
He was born July 29, 1940 in Elyria. He was a resident of Vermilion for the past 21 years. He graduated from Elyria High School.
Mar. Pasenow retired in 1993 from General Motors. He worked there for 30 years. He served in the Navy aboard the submarine tender USS Orion. Richard was a member of Saint Mary Church, Vermilion. He was also a life member of AMVETS Post 22 and the American Legion post 387 both in Vermilion and the United Auto Workers Local 913 Sandusky. He served as president of the United Auto Workers Local 780, Elyria. He enjoyed wood working, history and spending time with his family.
He will be deeply missed by his wife of 25 years Karen Ann Pasenow (née Godwin) of Vermilion; sons Richard Pasenow of Atlanta, Georgia and Michael Wineberner of Hollywood, Florida; daughters Deborah (John) Carden of Port Clinton and Kelly (Jeff) Zacovic of LaGrange and 7 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Howard F. and Cecila (née Feron).
His family invites friends to a memorial mass will Friday, April 20, 2012 at 11 AM in Saint Mary’s Church, 731 Exchange Street, Vermilion, Ohio 44089. Rev. father Ron Brickner, pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memory Garden, Avon. The Disabled American Veterans Louis Paul Proy Chapter 20 will conduct Military Honors.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to St. Mary’s Church or Stein Hospice, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870.
